Thank you for supporting ABC Alumni as we advocate for an independent and properly funded ABC.  You will receive regular newsletters and emails about our activities, including campaigns and get-togethers, and we encourage you to read stories and articles from our Alumni that are published on our website. For those who use social media, you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter.  We post several times a week, tagging articles and news about the ABC and the media landscape.

Our team needs your ideas and skills to inform and execute our campaigns. You will shortly receive an email from us asking you to complete or update our profile form so that we have on record information about your interests and experience. We keep this information private but, provided that you agree, we may contact you for help as we put in place our campaigns.

Your affiliation with the Alumni allows you to participate in other ways. Publishing Alumni stories and articles is at the heart of our activity. These stories and articles connect us together, and are often widely read. They remind people of the valuable content and work of the ABC, both historic and current, and contribute to debate about the ABC and public broadcasting. We encourage you to write a story about your experience with the ABC, or an article in response to current issues affecting the ABC. You can contact us directly at abcalumniaustralia@gmail.com

The funds we receive from you cover the basic costs of running ABC Alumni.  Our association is voluntary.  Members do not receive fees or personal reimbursements – we give our time and energy to supporting our goals.  However, we need to pay for a range of software licenses, and assistance in some areas. For instance, we are currently paying a recently graduated journalist to manage our daily social media postings.

There is a lot more that we can do, and we welcome donations from our Alumni and Associates to create value-added content, such as video blogs that can be accessed from social media outlets. If these are to be effective we need professional assistance. During critical campaigns, we may also pay for advertising, often in conjunction with like-minded organisations such as ABC Friends.

While we are registered as a charity, we do not have tax-deductible status, so you cannot claim this donation against your taxable income.
