Dr Gael Jennings

Following an early career as a medical researcher, Dr Gael Jennings has been associated with the ABC for nearly 40 years. She began in Sydney in 1986 as the inaugural national science and medical reporter for ABC TV News, reported for Quantum for many years and then was selected as the inaugural national science and medical reporter on the 7.30 Report. Gael moved to radio in 1996, as presenter of mid-mornings on ABC Radio 3LO/774 Melbourne and later afternoons in both Melbourne and across Victoria. She also took on the role of Development Producer, ABC TV Factual, then Documentary, in the genres of science, natural history, Indigenous, religion and ethics. Gael has been co-host, commentator and newspaper reviewer for a number of ABC programs: ‘Brains Trust’ of The Einstein Factor; Jon Faine Conversation Hour morning program on ABC Radio Melbourne; Agony of… TV series with Adam Zwar; and others. Gael is currently an Honorary Fellow at the Centre for Advancing Journalism at the University of Melbourne. She brings to ABC Alumni her experience as a director on numerous boards including Museums Victoria, Questacon and the Cancer Council. She currently sits on the VARTA (Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatments Authority) board. Gael was gonged with an AM in 2020 for science and broadcasting. Â
